Features and function
Iceland moss syrup is dietetic product, a dietary supplement and acts as a demulcent for alleviating irritation of the throat in dry coughs, irritation or inflamation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa. Iceland moss contains significant amounts of water–solubile polysaccharides that has mucus properties, lichen acid and bitter substances. This supstances work together and relieve cough irritation.
Iceland moss
Iceland moss consists of the dried thalli of Cetraria islandica (L.) Acharius sensu latore. Botanically Cetraria islandica is not a moss it is a lichen, a symbiotic partnership between an alga and the fungus. Cetraria islandica has been used for cough since ancient times. In modern phytotherapy it is valued for its strong effect on the mucous membranes of the throat and bronchial tree in the treatment of dry cough and inflammation of the throat. Iceland moss has a beneficial and bitter tonic effect on the lining of the airways. German Commission E has approved the Iceland moss to treat coughs, bronchitis, inflammation of the mouth and throat, dyspepsia and loss of appetite.

Other ingredients are: sucrose, preservative (sodium benzoate) and orange flavour.
Dosage and administration
Adults take 15 ml three times a day. Small children take teaspoon 5 ml three times a day, and infants take 2,5 ml three times a day.
Storage
Keep at temperature of 25 ºC. Close the bottle after each use.
