Antidep isa dietetic product, dietary supplement which major active compound is hypericin. Hypericin improves mood by reducing anxiety, restlessness, melancholy, despondency and apathy as well as side effects: insomnia, fatigue, increased or decreased appetite. Hypericin relieves nervousness and irritability. Antidep is recommended as a dietary supplement intended to improve mood in nervous conditions. Depression is an emotional disorder that manifests as a sense of helplessness and lack of self esteem. Overwhelming sadness, asthenia, decreased ability to concentrate, mood swings and decision making, are the signs of depression. Men manifest depression in 9 – 15% and women 20% of population. Depression usually occurs between 45 and 50 years old and depressive episodes last for 5 to 10 months.Depression usuallyrecursafter it’s been disappeared. Depression occurs due to the lack of functional amine neurotransmitters primarily serotonin. Serotonin regulates functions such as fine muscle contraction, regulation of temperature, appetite, pain sensation, behavior, blood pressure and breathing. When serotonin is in balance, it gives a feeling of satisfaction and mental relaxation.

The other ingredients are: corn starch, crospovidone, calcium phosphate, sodium croscarmellose, silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, acacia, purified water, paint quinoline yellow (E104) and indigo carmine (E132).

Dry extract of St. John's wort
St. John's wort contains several active compounds and the most important is hypericin which has attributed the antidepressant effect. However, recent research studies shows that other components from St. John's wort, such as hyperforin and flavonoids, can enhance the effect of hypericin. Dry extract of St. John's wort inhibits synaptic neurotransmitter storage of serotonin and dopamine. In addition to the antidepressant influence, St. John's wort improves mood, relaxes a body and can improve memory. It helps with insomnia and anxiety. Certain number of studies that have examined the St. John's wort have shown that St. John's wort helps in the treatment of mild to moderate depression and has fewer side effects, and is just as effective as the most commonly prescribed antidepressants.

Dosage and administration
Adults take two Antidep dragee per day, one before breakfast and the other one with lunch. In the case of insomnia second one should be used before bedtime.
Children aged 6 to 12 years are allowed to use Antidep only on doctor's recommendation and not more than 1 dragee per day.
Children younger than 6 years are not recommended to use Antidep dragees.
Antidep use is recommended for a period of 6 weeks maximum.

Special warnings
The product should not use people who are sensitive to product components. Since hypericin can cause sensitivity to light it is not recommended to expose to sun light while taking Antidep. It is not recommended for patients who take immunosuppressive drugs, after organ transplantation, or patients who use drugs to treat HIV infection. Patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder can take this product only if it is recommended by doctor. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can take Antidep only with the advice of a doctor. Antidep can interact with other drugs such as warfarin, digoxin, theophylline, antiseizure drugs, contraceptives, drugs for migraine and antidepressant medications.
